Immigration to Singapore

Singapore is a global financial hub and one of Asia's most dynamic economies. Known for its political stability, low crime rate, world-class infrastructure, and strategic location, Singapore attracts skilled professionals, entrepreneurs, and investors from around the world. The city-state offers a streamlined immigration system with clear pathways for work, business, and permanent settlement.

Employment Pass (EP)

The Employment Pass is Singapore's primary work visa for foreign professionals, managers, and executives. Applicants must earn a minimum fixed monthly salary (currently SGD 5,000, or SGD 5,500 for the financial sector) and hold acceptable qualifications. The EP is issued for up to 2 years initially and is renewable. It is assessed using the COMPASS (Complementarity Assessment) framework, which evaluates salary, qualifications, diversity, and support for local employment.

S Pass

The S Pass is designed for mid-level skilled workers. Applicants must earn at least SGD 3,150 per month (higher for the financial sector) and have relevant qualifications and work experience. Employers are subject to a quota — S Pass holders cannot exceed a set percentage of the company's total workforce. The S Pass is valid for up to 2 years and is renewable.

EntrePass

The EntrePass is for foreign entrepreneurs who want to start and operate a new business in Singapore. The business must be venture-backed, hold significant intellectual property, or have an established track record of innovation. Applicants must meet specific criteria related to funding, business spending, local employment, or revenue milestones to qualify for renewal.

Personalised Employment Pass (PEP)

The PEP is a premium work visa for high-earning professionals. It is not tied to a specific employer, giving holders greater flexibility to switch jobs without having to apply for a new pass. Applicants must earn a minimum fixed monthly salary of SGD 22,500. The PEP is valid for 3 years and is non-renewable.

Dependant's Pass & Long-Term Visit Pass

EP and S Pass holders earning above certain salary thresholds can bring their spouse and children (under 21) to Singapore on a Dependant's Pass. Parents, common-law spouses, and step-children may qualify for a Long-Term Visit Pass. Dependant's Pass holders can work in Singapore with a Letter of Consent from MOM.

Permanent Residency & Citizenship

After working in Singapore on an eligible pass, you can apply for Permanent Residence (PR) through the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA). PR applications are assessed holistically based on factors like economic contributions, qualifications, age, family profile, and length of residency. Singapore citizens enjoy benefits including CPF contributions, housing subsidies, and access to public education.
